On June 30, 1994, Dora Ann Thomas, a 46-year-old African-American woman, was found raped and strangled in her apartment in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Her death bore striking similarities to a series of unsolved murders from 1990, in which elderly victims were attacked in their homes.
