On January 10, 2002, 21-year-old Taneka Michelle Butler was shot and killed while socializing with friends outside a residence at 105 North Slocumb Street in Goldsboro, North Carolina. The incident occurred shortly after 3:00 a.m. when gunshots were fired, causing everyone, including Butler, to flee. Butler was found lying in the driveway, fatally wounded.
