Tangia Michelle Etheredge, a 50-year-old African American woman, was born on August 23, 1970, in Saluda, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Betty Ann Etheredge and Sammy Phillip Etheredge. Tangia was known for her warm smile and generous spirit, and she enjoyed listening to music, cooking, styling hair, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, leaving behind a large family who cherished her memory.
On the morning of January 7, 2021, Tangia Michelle Etheredge was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the 1500 building of Day Circle in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Despite the efforts of EMS to save her, she succumbed to her injuries. The Goldsboro Police Department's Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit immediately began an investigation into her death.
Through the course of the investigation, a suspect was identified. T'Shon Devonte Swinson, a 19-year-old male from Goldsboro, was arrested and charged with the murder of Tangia Michelle Etheredge. Swinson was located near the 1900 building of Day Circle and taken into custody without incident. He was placed in the custody of the Wayne County Detention Center under "no bond." The investigation and apprehension of the suspect were assisted by B-Shift Patrol, VICE, the ATF Task Force, and the U.S. Marshals Task Force.
Tangia Michelle Etheredge's death was a tragic loss for her family and the community. Her life was celebrated with a graveside service at Lockhart Baptist Church Cemetery in Saluda, South Carolina, on January 16, 2021. Her family and friends continue to honor her memory and seek justice for her untimely death.
