Vernon Jerome Jefferys, a 43-year-old African American man, was tragically killed on February 13, 2018, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jefferys was at home with his wife and teenage son when two armed intruders forced their way into the house. The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. when someone knocked on the front door.
