Nicholas Boger, a 36-year-old man from Charlotte, NC, was tragically shot and killed on May 12, 2018. He was found dead beneath a car on Elm Forest Drive in East Charlotte. The incident occurred when two suspects attempted to steal Boger's SUV, which they had previously broken into to steal a spare key. When Boger tried to stop them, the suspects shot him and left him to die.
The suspects, 16-year-old Sergio Axel Coello-Perez and 18-year-old Jonathan Castillo, were arrested and charged
with murder. Coello-Perez was briefly released from jail due to a clerical error but was later apprehended and returned to custody. The case marked Charlotte's 21st homicide of the year.
Boger was remembered fondly by his niece, Chrissy Boger, who described him as a joyful person who shared his smile and kindness with everyone. His death was a devastating loss to his family, friends, and community.
