Nekeia Lavette Whittington, a 37-year-old African American woman from Laurinburg, North Carolina, tragically lost her life on May 27, 2020. The incident occurred in the afternoon when Laurinburg police officers responded to a disturbance around 3:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Whittington had been struck by a vehicle and had also sustained a gunshot wound. She was transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
