On May 25, 2024, in Laurinburg, North Carolina, 54-year-old Evelyn Ann Leviner was found critically injured in her home on North Gill Street. Her daughter, Pattie Jacobs, discovered her mother with gunshot wounds to the head and the family dog fatally shot. Emergency responders transported Leviner to a local hospital, and she was later airlifted to another facility. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries on May 27, 2024.
