On the evening of January 24, 2025, 17-year-old Jasmine Smith, a young African American woman from Laurinburg, North Carolina, was tragically shot and killed. Authorities responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the 300 block of E. Vance Street.
