Carlos Edward Lopez-Cole, a 19-year-old male, tragically lost his life on September 4, 2020, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred at the Osei Discount Food and Beverage store located on L.D. Parker Drive. Carlos, along with two female victims, was shot in the parking lot of the store late at night. Carlos was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two female victims were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting started as an argument that escalated, and the two female victims, who were bystanders, tried to defuse the situation and were shot.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. Homicide unit detectives, along with Crime Stoppers, the ABC Unit, Victim Services, the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team, CFD, and medics, assisted in the investigation. As of now, there have been no arrests or suspects identified in connection with the shooting. The CMPD continues to plead with the public to come forward with any information that could help solve the case.
