Fred Brown Lane Jr., a 24-year-old African American male, was tragically shot to death on July 6, 2000, in his Charlotte, NC home. Fred Lane, a former running back for the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts, was killed by his wife, Deidra Lane, during a domestic dispute. Deidra Lane, who was 25 years old at the time, shot Fred Lane as soon as he walked through the door. She then shot him a second time in the back of the head.
