Michael Rashad Payne, a 29-year-old African American man, tragically lost his life on August 24, 2021, in Salisbury, North Carolina. Payne was found with a gunshot wound at 642 Williams Road, located in the Brenner Crossing Apartments. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead before he could be transported to the hospital. His death marked the third homicide in Salisbury within a span of three days, contributing to a concerning rise in violent incidents in the area.
