Patrolman Ronald Euell "Ronnie" Dean, aged 33, was a four-year veteran of the Shreveport Police Department in Louisiana. On July 21, 1979, he was tragically shot and killed by gang members while he was off duty and sitting in his car outside Charlie's Lounge on 70th Street. The shooting was an act of retaliation for the previous arrest of a fellow gang member.
