In the spring of 2010, the life of 17-year-old Malekia Davis was tragically cut short in a brutal act of violence that also claimed the lives of her sister and two young nephews in New Orleans, Louisiana. On the evening of Thursday, March 25, 2010, police were called to a home where they discovered a horrific scene. Malekia, her 25-year-old sister Angel Davis, and Angel's two children, seven-year-old Jamaria Ross and four-year-old Joseph Davis, had all been fatally shot.
