Nicola Diane Cotton, a 24-year-old African American female police officer, was tragically killed on January 28, 2008, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Officer Cotton, who had served with the New Orleans Police Department for two years, was attempting to arrest a rape suspect in a parking lot on Earhart Boulevard. The suspect, Bernel P.
