In the heart of New Orleans' French Quarter, on the afternoon of November 21, 2024, the life of 27-year-old Yasmeen Al'Shawnee Webb, known affectionately as 'Mutt,' was tragically cut short in a brazen act of violence. The shooting, which occurred around 12:20 p.m. near the intersection of Iberville and Royal Streets, was described by authorities as a targeted attack.
Webb was fatally wounded at the scene, while three other individuals—a 40-year-old man, a 39-year-old woman, and a 24-year-old man—also sustained injuries in the gunfire.
A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Yasmeen Webb was remembered for her warm personality and her passion for the culinary arts. A graduate of Helen Cox High School, she had honed her skills through programs at Café Reconcile, Liberty’s Kitchen, and Delgado Community College's Culinary Arts Program. Her friends and colleagues in the French Quarter recalled a kind-hearted individual who brought joy to those she encountered. Her sudden death left a deep void in the lives of her extensive family, including her siblings and grandparents.
The New Orleans Police Department swiftly launched an investigation into the quadruple shooting. Through the aid of surveillance footage and an ankle monitor, they quickly identified and apprehended one of the suspects, 28-year-old Nicholas Miorana. Two other men, his 21-year-old brother Daniel Miorana and 23-year-old Darrell Adams, were also identified as suspects but initially remained at large. Adams was also wanted in connection with a separate shooting that had occurred in September.
Following a manhunt, Daniel Miorana and Darrell Adams were eventually taken into custody in January 2025 and booked on charges of murder and attempted murder. All three suspects—Nicholas Miorana, Daniel Miorana, and Darrell Adams—face charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder for their alleged roles in the shooting that claimed Yasmeen Webb's life and injured three others. While the arrests brought a measure of progress in the case, investigators have not publicly disclosed a motive for the violent and indiscriminate shooting that unfolded in broad daylight.
