In the early morning hours of March 19, 2022, the life of 35-year-old Ciara Danielle Bullock, a Black female, was tragically cut short in New Orleans. At approximately 2:45 a.m., she was discovered lying unresponsive on a sidewalk in the 3000 block of South Saratoga Street in the Central City neighborhood. When the New Orleans Police Department arrived at the scene, she was pronounced deceased.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later identified her on March 21, 2022, and the investigation into her death determined that she was the victim of a homicide.
The investigation into the death of the mother of three led the New Orleans Police Department's Homicide Unit to identify William Powell III as the primary suspect in her murder. Powell, a Black male born on August 15, 1982, was subsequently charged with second-degree murder. Authorities believe that in the aftermath of the incident, Powell fled the New Orleans area and may have traveled to Jackson, Mississippi.
As of now, the case remains an open and active investigation as law enforcement continues to search for William Powell III. A warrant for his arrest is on file, and Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans has offered a reward of up to $2,500 for any information that leads to his capture. The New Orleans Police Department is urging anyone with knowledge of the crime or Powell's current location to come forward and contact the NOPD Homicide Section or to report tips anonymously through Crimestoppers. Ciara Bullock's family and community are left seeking justice and closure in the wake of her violent death.
