In the summer of 2019, a quiet apartment complex in North St. Louis County became the scene of a grim discovery that left the community in shock. On Saturday, July 6th, a person entered an apartment on Chambers Road to find a scene of unimaginable violence. Five men, including 54-year-old James L. Penny, lay dead, all victims of gunshot wounds. The other men were later identified as Rondall Mullin, 65, Derrick Penny, 54, Ronald Brewster Jr., 40, and Rodney E.

The initial investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department quickly pointed towards a homicide, and authorities began the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to the quintuple murder. As detectives delved deeper, they uncovered evidence suggesting that drug activity may have been a contributing factor in the tragic incident, a detail that added a layer of complexity to the already devastating loss of five lives.

Two men, 29-year-old Terrance Wesley and 30-year-old Anthony Watkins, were taken into custody in connection with the killings.
