On the morning of Friday, April 3, 2015, violence erupted in the North City neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, claiming the life of a young man. Deandre Hawkins, a 21-year-old male, was present in the 700 block of Walton Avenue when shots rang out shortly before 11:00 a.m. The disturbance drew the immediate attention of local law enforcement, prompting a swift response to the scene.
