A sense of unease settled over a Shreveport neighborhood on March 7, 2014, when a family member, unable to make contact with 22-year-old Nikko Taylor, went to his home in the 1800 block of Weinstock Street. Inside, a grim discovery was made. Nikko Taylor, a male, was found deceased, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound to his upper body. The initial shock of the discovery was soon compounded by a second tragic finding.
As investigators processed the scene, they located the body of another victim, 16-year-old Rajean George, who had also been shot and killed.
The investigation into the double homicide revealed that Rajean, who was from Bossier City, had been reported as a runaway earlier that year. The circumstances that led to her being at Taylor's residence remained a key focus for law enforcement in the early stages of their inquiry. In the course of their investigation, police also discovered that Taylor's green 1997 Pontiac Sunfire was missing from the home. A search for the vehicle was initiated, and it was later found abandoned at the intersection of Merwin and Hassett streets.
Shreveport police detectives worked the case, collecting evidence from both the home and the recovered vehicle. They appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case. However, despite their efforts and the initial media coverage of the tragic deaths of the young man and teenage girl, no suspects were publicly identified in the immediate aftermath of the killings.
As time passed, the investigation into the murders of Nikko Taylor and Rajean George grew cold. There have been no subsequent announcements from law enforcement regarding any arrests or persons of interest in the years since the double homicide. The case remains a painful and unresolved chapter for the families of the two victims and the Shreveport community, a stark reminder of a violent day that claimed two young lives and left behind a trail of unanswered questions.
