In the quiet hours of a November evening in Shreveport, Louisiana, the life of 18-year-old Xavier Montrail Thomas, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On November 21, 2018, he was discovered on the porch of a vacant house, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his upper body. Emergency services were called to the scene, but it was too late; Xavier was pronounced dead right there on the porch.
