On a Sunday afternoon in Shreveport, Louisiana, the life of 24-year-old DeMarco Green, an African American male, was tragically cut short. On December 15, 2019, at approximately 2:30 p.m., gunshots rang out at the Town Oaks Apartment complex situated in the 7800 block of Youree Drive. Responders discovered Green with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Paramedics rushed him to the Ochsner LSU Health hospital's emergency room in a desperate attempt to save his life.
Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Green succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:12 p.m. The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office later formally identified him.
Shreveport Police were told the shooting stemmed from a domestic disturbance. Investigators began delving into the circumstances that led to the fatal encounter. However, details regarding a suspect or any arrests in connection with the shooting have not been publicly released.
