In the summer of 2016, a verbal dispute between cousins in Shreveport, Louisiana, ended in a man losing his life. Kevin White, a 35-year-old male, was shot in the face in the early morning hours of July 17, 2016. He was rushed to University Health hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The Shreveport Police were called to the 100 block of North Greenbrook Loop where they found White suffering from the gunshot wound.
Their investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect. Witnesses at the scene and in the surrounding area provided crucial information that led detectives to identify 31-year-old Labroderick Alexander as the individual responsible for White's death. It was determined that a verbal altercation between White and his cousin, Alexander, had escalated, leading to the fatal shooting.
Following the identification of Alexander as the primary suspect, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the charge of second-degree murder. The bond was set at $500,000. Alexander was subsequently apprehended and brought to trial for his role in the death of his cousin.
The legal proceedings that followed resulted in a conviction for Labroderick Alexander. A jury found him guilty of second-degree murder. As a consequence of his actions and the jury's verdict, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. An appeal of his conviction was later denied, cementing the life sentence for the death of Kevin White.
