An evening in Shreveport took a tragic turn on December 1, 2025, when 18-year-old Michael Allen was shot and killed. The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. as he was a passenger in a car traveling along the Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway, a roadway that follows the Red River.
The vehicle, driven by a 26-year-old man who was not injured, was near Oden Street when the shooting took place.
Authorities believe the car Allen was in had been at a location on East Washington Street prior to being found on the parkway, and it is possible that the shots were fired at only one of these locations. After being shot, Allen was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at 8:12 p.m.
The Shreveport Police Department launched an investigation into the death of the young man, which marked the city's 37th confirmed homicide of the year. An autopsy was ordered to determine the official cause of death. As of the initial reports, the investigation was ongoing.
