On a summer day in Shreveport, Louisiana, a life was tragically cut short, leaving a family to grapple with a sudden and violent loss. Patrick Lynn Goines, a 32-year-old African American male, was a father of four who worked in hotel maintenance. On July 21, 2021, he was at a gas station located in the 2800 block of Hilry Huckaby III Drive when a dispute escalated into a fatal encounter.
