In the fading light of a November afternoon in Shreveport, Louisiana, the life of 27-year-old Robert Lee Perry, an African American male, was brought to an abrupt and violent end. On November 28, 2018, at an apartment complex in the 4500 block of North Market Street, an altercation escalated, culminating in gunfire that would leave Perry with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Despite being rushed to Ochsner LSU Health, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The initial investigation by the Shreveport Police painted a grim picture of the events that transpired. An argument with an unknown individual had taken a deadly turn, with the suspect firing several shots before making a swift escape in an unidentified vehicle. The case, however, would not remain a mystery for long. Just two days after the fatal shooting, a significant development occurred when a 16-year-old juvenile, accompanied by his mother, surrendered to authorities at the Shreveport Police complex.
