On January 17, 2024, an incident occurred in the 4100 block of Via Street in Shreveport, Louisiana, resulting in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Joshua Simmons. The incident happened just before 6:00 p.m. when Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Joshua Simmons suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper body. Despite immediate attention, Simmons was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Shreveport Fire Department.
