On a February evening in Shreveport, Louisiana, a domestic dispute turned fatal, claiming the life of Tomel T. Henry. The 30-year-old man was outside a residence on Mansfield Road on February 16, 2022, where he was engaged in an argument with the mother of his child. The confrontation escalated from words to a physical shoving match, tragically setting the stage for an uninvolved party to intervene with deadly force.
A man named Archille Parrel Holmes Jr., who was present at the scene
but not part of the initial dispute, inserted himself into the conflict. Rather than de-escalating the situation, Holmes produced a firearm and shot Henry in the head. In the immediate aftermath, Holmes fled the scene, taking the murder weapon with him and successfully eluding law enforcement for two months. His time as a fugitive came to an end when he was apprehended by Shreveport police.
Following his arrest, Holmes was charged with the murder of Tomel Henry. During the trial in Caddo District Court, prosecutors presented twelve witnesses, several of whom testified that the lethal force used by Holmes was unnecessary and excessive.
