On a tragic Wednesday morning in Shreveport, Louisiana, the life of James Shivers, a 28-year-old Black male, was cut short. On September 9, 2015, Shivers was discovered inside a residence located in the 400 block of Abilene Street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Emergency services transported him to University Health, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The Shreveport Police Department quickly launched an investigation into the
shooting. Within a couple of days, their efforts led to an arrest. Authorities took 24-year-old Dominique Berry into custody in connection with the incident. However, the charge against Berry was not for murder. Instead, he was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
At the time of Berry's arrest, law enforcement officials stated that the investigation into James Shivers' death was still active and ongoing.
