On a late winter evening in Shreveport, Louisiana, the life of 18-year-old JaDerris Montrell Taylor, a Black male, was cut short by gunfire. On February 25, 2020, patrol officers responded to a call just after 7:00 p.m. in the 9000 block of South Shreveport Drive, where they found Taylor lying in the roadway. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical personnel. The initial investigation painted a grim picture of a young man lured to his death. ...
