In the quiet neighborhood of Eden Gardens in Shreveport, Louisiana, the night of June 28, 2024, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Just before midnight, police responded to a call of a shooting at a residence in the 7200 block of Bethany Street. There, in the driveway, they found 46-year-old Jacoby Willis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Originally from Dallas, Texas, Willis was a man whose life was about to be tragically cut short.
According to reports, Willis had been engaged in a conversation with another person when the fatal shots were fired. A family member, upon hearing the gunfire, went to check on him and found him unresponsive with a severe gunshot injury to his neck. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe. He was pronounced dead at 11:59 p.m.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing at least two individuals fleeing after the gunshots rang out. One unidentified suspect, dressed in dark clothing, was reportedly seen running in the direction of Turner Lane. Despite the presence of witnesses, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit is actively investigating the homicide, collecting evidence and interviewing those who may have information. Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward as they continue to seek leads in their search for the persons responsible for the death of Jacoby Willis.
