17, 1996, Alex was raised in Chicopee where he attended local schools, including Chicopee Comprehensive High School. During his high school years, he was active in sports, playing soccer and refereeing for youth soccer leagues. At the time of his death, he was working for various construction companies in the area with aspirations of joining the local Carpenters union. His family remembered him as a loving son, brother, and uncle who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
The investigation into Alex Larkin's death led to an arrest a week later. The Holyoke Police Department announced on Saturday, September 10, 2022, that they had taken 23-year-old Victor Diaz-Torres of Holyoke into custody. Diaz-Torres was subsequently charged with the murder of Alex Larkin. Following his arrest, he was arraigned on the murder charge and ordered to be held in jail.
