On a cool December evening in St. Martinville, Louisiana, the life of 20-year-old Breya Batiste was tragically cut short. On December 14, 2014, gunshots shattered the night's quiet on Orphe Road, leaving two young women injured. When St. Martin Parish Sheriff's deputies arrived around 9:45 p.m., they discovered both a 19-year-old and Batiste, who was 20, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, Breya Batiste was pronounced dead.
