A sudden act of violence tragically cut short the life of Corey Jermaine Boyd, a 34-year-old male from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. On the late evening of Tuesday, February 9, 2016, Boyd was shot in the 800 block of North 31st Street. He was rushed to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries two days later on February 11, 2016.
The investigation into the homicide moved swiftly, and within a week, the Baton Rouge Police Department had a suspect in custody.
On February 17, 2016, authorities arrested 21-year-old Marcus Miller in connection with the fatal shooting. The arrest was made after witnesses to the incident successfully identified Miller in a police lineup.
Miller faced serious charges for his alleged involvement in Corey Boyd's death. He was charged with first-degree murder. Additionally, due to a prior conviction for robbery, Miller was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
