In the early morning hours of November 1, 2019, the life of 42-year-old Delveckeo Jackson, a male resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was tragically cut short. Jackson was discovered lying on the ground in front of his home on Fairfields Avenue, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services were called to the scene, but Jackson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into his death, led by Baton Rouge Police Department detectives, soon
uncovered details leading up to the fatal shooting. It was revealed that shortly before he was killed, Jackson had been at a convenience store on North Foster Drive. An argument that began at the store is believed to have escalated and culminated in the deadly confrontation at his residence. Witnesses reported hearing approximately four gunshots and seeing a man in a navy blue jacket standing over Jackson's body before fleeing the scene.
Less than two weeks later, on November 12, 2019, an arrest was made in connection with the homicide. The Louisiana State Police Fugitive Task Force apprehended 23-year-old Shawn Kelvin Byrd. Following his arrest, Byrd was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He was charged with second-degree murder for his alleged role in the shooting death of Delveckeo Jackson.
