In the late summer of 2016, the life of 32-year-old Lance Hudson was tragically cut short in Lafayette, Louisiana. On August 31st, Hudson was discovered in his vehicle in the 300 block of Morse Street, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the death of the male victim quickly led Lafayette Police to identify three suspects.
Damal Duhon, 19, and Frederick Lawrence, 18, were taken into custody in the days following the incident. A third suspect, 18-year-old Tyron Coates, remained at large, and authorities sought the public's help in locating him. All three men were wanted on charges of second-degree murder.
Years later, a man identified as Tyron Coates, then 23, was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Lafayette on January 23, 2022. While it is widely believed this was the same individual wanted in connection with Hudson's death, an official confirmation linking the two cases has not been publicly released.
