In a Lafayette, Louisiana apartment on April 12, 2024, a welfare check prompted by a missing person report led to the grim discovery of a triple homicide. Inside the residence on South College Road, authorities found the bodies of 49-year-old Dr. Eric Green, a male professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, along with 45-year-old Brandon Touchet and 46-year-old Elizabeth Reames.
All three victims had been fatally shot.
The investigation quickly led authorities to a suspect, 42-year-old Chad Credeur of Duson. Credeur was known to be an acquaintance of all three victims. He was initially taken into custody in Jeff Davis Parish on unrelated charges. During his arrest, law enforcement found him in possession of personal items belonging to Green, Touchet, and Reames. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for Credeur for three counts of first-degree murder.
Credeur's criminal history includes a prior arrest in 2020 for attempted murder, for which he was scheduled to stand trial just a month before the homicides but failed to appear in court. In the triple homicide case, Credeur was found competent to stand trial. The motive for the killings has not been publicly disclosed by investigators. The deaths of Dr. Green, a respected psychology professor and child therapist, along with Touchet and Reames, sent shockwaves through the Lafayette community and the university where Green was a beloved educator.
