In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Lafayette, Louisiana, the life of 18-year-old Nathaniel Zhane Sharply was tragically cut short. On October 15, 2020, Nathaniel, a Black male, was one of four victims in a shooting that erupted at Moore Park, where a large crowd had gathered after a University of Louisiana at Lafayette football game. The festive atmosphere of the post-game party turned chaotic when a fight broke out, followed by the sound of gunfire at approximately 1:00 a.m.
