Damien Anthony Champ, a 21-year-old African American male, was found unresponsive on Bossier Street in Lafayette, Louisiana, on June 30, 2015. The Lafayette Parish Coroner’s Office determined that he died from a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. Champ, a resident of Louisville, Texas, had been charged with possession of MDMA in May 2015 and was released from the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center the day before his death.
