On the night of June 21, 2017, in Lafayette, Louisiana, 18-year-old Jamirus Freeman lost his life to gun violence. The fatal incident unfolded in the 1000 block of South Magnolia Street, where Lafayette Police officers were dispatched shortly before 11:30 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Freeman outside a home, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention but unfortunately succumbed to the severity of his injuries.
