In the summer of 2018, the life of 20-year-old Kazon Thomas, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short on a Tuesday night in Prince George's County, Maryland. On July 31st, at approximately 10:40 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Putnam Lane and Ritchie Road in the Forestville area. Upon their arrival, they discovered Thomas in the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite any efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kazon Thomas was a resident of Southeast Washington, D.C. His sudden and violent death sent ripples of grief through his community. The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit promptly launched an investigation into the fatal shooting, diligently working to piece together the events of that night and identify who was responsible for this senseless act of violence.
