Chyna Gibson, a 31-year-old Black transgender woman, was tragically killed on February 25, 2017, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Known by her stage name, Chyna Doll Dupree, she was a beloved performer in the ballroom community. Gibson was shot multiple times in a parking lot on the 4300 block of Downman Road, just before 8:30 p.m. on that fateful night. She had returned to New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras with her family and friends, a festive time that turned into a heartbreaking tragedy.
