In the fading daylight of a Tuesday evening in New Orleans, 24-year-old Sadiki Saheed Navarre was driving his black Acura near the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Earhart Boulevard. It was shortly after 7 p.m. on March 12, 2013, when the sound of gunfire shattered the routine of the city. When police arrived at the scene, they found Navarre in the driver's seat of his vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
