Lashanna Ward, a 24-year-old African American woman from Opelousas, Louisiana, tragically lost her life on June 3, 2017. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. in the 600 block of East Street in Opelousas. According to police reports, Lashanna was shot multiple times by her husband, Daniel Johnson, who claimed he mistook her for an intruder. Johnson, 26, called 911 and reported that he had shot someone he believed was breaking into their home, only to realize afterward that it was his wife.
