In the early morning hours of July 3, 2017, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a burst of gunfire shattered the night, leaving a scene of chaos and tragedy on Spanish Town Road. When the violence ceased, 39-year-old Timothy Maurice Armstrong, a Black male, was among the victims. He had been sitting on the steps of a home with his friend, Tyrone Brumfield. The two men were talking with Brumfield's fiancée, who was in her truck nearby, when an unknown assailant or assailants opened fire.
The
sudden attack left all three individuals with gunshot wounds. Tyrone Brumfield was pronounced dead at the scene. Timothy Armstrong and Brumfield's fiancée were rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Armstrong succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The female victim survived the shooting.
