In the early morning hours of July 3, 2017, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a burst of gunfire shattered the night, leaving a scene of chaos and tragedy on Spanish Town Road. When the violence ceased, 39-year-old Timothy Maurice Armstrong, a Black male, was among the victims. He had been sitting on the steps of a home with his friend, Tyrone Brumfield. The two men were talking with Brumfield's fiancée, who was in her truck nearby, when an unknown assailant or assailants opened fire.
