Christon Chaisson, a 31-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on August 12, 2017, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Christon was shot and killed in downtown Lafayette while attempting to assist a woman who had fallen and hit her head during a fight with her boyfriend. This act of kindness led to his untimely death when Tyler Benoit, who intervened in the incident, shot him. Christon was pronounced dead at a local hospital from a gunshot wound to his upper body.
