Gerald James, a 43-year-old African American male, was found dead in a hotel room in Lafayette, Louisiana, on December 10, 2017. The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 AM, when Lafayette police received a report of a shooting at a hotel located on SE Evangeline Thruway. Upon arrival, officers discovered Gerald James deceased in a room at the scene.
