In the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans, a burst of gunfire on the evening of Friday, March 16, 2018, shattered the night and ended the life of 24-year-old Calvin Eli Powell. Another man was also wounded in the double shooting, which took place in the 3400 block of Hollygrove Street.

Powell, a Black male, was a father of three and a lifelong resident of New Orleans, having attended schools in the Orleans Parish School District. His death left his family, including his parents, stepp ...
