In the quiet community of Laveen, Arizona, a gruesome discovery brought a tragic end to the life of 57-year-old David Jimenez. On December 29, 2025, Jimenez was fatally shot in his own home, but the disturbing circumstances of his death would not come to light for several weeks. Neighbors grew concerned after not seeing Jimenez for a period of time, although they noticed unusual activity at his residence.
The truth began to unravel when the mother of 18-year-old Xzavion Johnson, a neighbor, contacted authorities to request a welfare check on Jimenez. She had not seen her son since the end of December and had detected a foul odor coming from Jimenez's property. Her concern deepened when she found a package addressed to her son on Jimenez's porch.
Responding to the call on January 12, 2026, Phoenix police officers made a grim discovery in the backyard of Jimenez's home: his body, wrapped in a blanket and in an advanced state of decomposition. Inside the house, they found Xzavion Johnson, who had been living there since the murder. After a standoff, Johnson was taken into custody. During questioning, he allegedly confessed to breaking into his neighbor's home with the intent to steal from him. Johnson told investigators that he used a stolen handgun to shoot Jimenez three times.
Following the alleged confession, Johnson was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and burglary. Investigators believe Johnson acted alone in the commission of the crime.
