In the early morning hours of May 20, 2018, the life of 25-year-old Corey Lyntrell Anderson, a Black male, was tragically cut short in LaPlace, Louisiana. Anderson was riding his motorcycle on Yorktowne Drive when he was fatally shot in what authorities have described as a premeditated and targeted act of violence. Responding to a call of aggravated battery by shooting at approximately 3 a.m., St.
John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office deputies discovered Anderson in a yard with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Anderson's murder swiftly led to a person of interest. Utilizing crime cameras and other investigative means, detectives identified 23-year-old DeQuan Donnell Brown of Reserve as a suspect. Brown, who was a convicted felon with a history of arrests that included charges for second-degree murder and armed robbery, turned himself in to authorities on May 23, 2018. He was subsequently booked on the charge of second-degree murder and transferred to the St. Charles Parish Correctional Center.
Further investigation led to a second arrest in connection with Anderson's death. On June 4, 2018, detectives took 31-year-old Sade Cherrell Lee of Reserve into custody. Lee was charged with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. While authorities made these arrests, a motive for the shooting was not immediately released, and the investigation was reported to be ongoing.
