In the pre-dawn hours of February 11, 2022, a violent altercation in LaPlace, Louisiana, claimed the life of 21-year-old Brandon Morris. The fatal encounter happened around 4 a.m. at the intersection of Jasper Lane and Cartier Drive.
An argument between Morris, a resident of Gramercy, and another man escalated, resulting in Morris being shot. He was privately transported to a nearby hospital but ultimately died from the injuries he sustained.
The St.
John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office identified 27-year-old Chris Williamson of LaPlace as the individual involved in the altercation with Morris. Following the incident, detectives secured a warrant for Williamson's arrest.
In a turn of events, Chris Williamson surrendered to authorities on the evening following the shooting. He was subsequently booked on a charge of second-degree murder and was held without bond. Sheriff Mike Tregre stated that the shooting was believed to be an isolated incident.
